Hello! Welcome to 5th grade Social Studies!
This is my greatest passion when it comes to teaching - how and why our country was founded. I think it is extremely important to understand all of the people, events and challenges that have touched this land and how our interactions with others (native and abroad) have influenced who and what we are today. This may be one of the most challenging subjects because frequently, there is not just one right or wrong answer. It is all about perspective. I will encourage you to see past the "who" and the "when" and strive to understand the "why" and the "how". Please use this website to stay up-to-date on assignments, quizzes or tests, projects and updates to the DC field trip. I'm looking forward to a great year! |
Social Studies is the study of social relationships and
the functioning of society. It encompasses history, economics, politics, civics, geography, sociology, and anthropology. Fifth grade focuses on these elements within the foundations of the United States. |
